The Eagle...The Eagle is the symbol of the Haida tribe, he is thought to be the the strongest of the creatures. Because he has the largest wings and the sharpest eyes, he has become known to rule the sky, and control everything below. He can cause storms, with the snap of his beak he will make lightning, and the sound of his wings make thunder, thus he is many times called the thunder bird.

The Raven....The Raven also ranks high on the totem, over seeing man and creatures below, also the guardian of the carver, because of his strong beak he was feared by other creatures and man.

The Wolf....The Wolf was very stealthy,seldom seen by man and doing his thing at night. Been known to attack man and many times stealing his fish and food. He was also in competition with the other creatures.

The Beaver....The Beaver was more friendly, but if provoked, he could cause flooding of the waters, also has been known to dig pitfalls along streams and rivers thus, drowning and trapping man.

The Mosquito...Mosquitos with there large eyes for night vision preyed mostly at night, with it's long blood sucking nose, it was a nuisance to man and animal. Also feared for the ability to take away wealth.

The Bear.....The Bear was somewhat bipolar, that being he had the ability to change from animal to man and back again. Ranked lowest on the Totem Pole and represented the Chiefs wife and had the ability to give birth. Not to be tampered with or provoked.
